On the latest episode of Will Smith’s “Bucket List” Facebook Watch show, the movie star tries out father-son bonding in Abu Dhabi for a F1-style race.
Will Smith admits he “failed” at spending enough time with eldest son Trey when he was younger. But he’s making up for lost time.
On the latest episode of Smith’s “Bucket List” Facebook Watch show, airing Wednesday at 9 a.m. EDT, the movie star tries out father-son bonding in Abu Dhabi for an epic F1-style race. (F1 champ Lewis Hamilton stops by, too.)
And in the midst of proving who’s faster on the track, things get real.
“This relationship with Trey is brand new,” says Smith, who had Trey, 26, with his first wife, Sheree Fletcher. “When you get divorced and then start another family, that had effects on Trey that we’re still healing and overcoming. Really in the last two years has there been enough wisdom and emotional development to be able to lovingly address the issues. We’re diving into creating a divine, loving friendship.”
The movie star, who has past admitted Trey felt “betrayed” and “abandoned” after the divorce, added that “you cannot get around spending time if you want to build love. It’s something I failed at for most of Trey’s life, but I’m going to dedicated the rest of my life to making up for it.”
