Man caught on camera kicking elderly woman on subway arrested, police say

A 36-year-old Yonkers man who was caught on camera brutally beating an elderly woman on an New York City subway is in custody, the NYPD said. 

Marc Gomez is accused of repeatedly kicked the elderly woman while she sat on the northbound No. 2 subway at the East 238 Street/Nereid Avenue station around 3:10 a.m. on March 10, police said. 

He was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree assault and harassment.  

Bystanders videoed the alleged assault, which went viral on social media. 

The victim was treated and released from the hospital and is getting care, advocacy and support, NYPD Chief Dermot Shea said on Twitter.
